sport rider

The Sport Rider Special Edition platform-style hitch bike rack makes it simple to carry 4 bikes on the rear of your vehicle. This versatile rack is easy to use, and it features locking frame hooks and adjustable wheel hoops so you can quickly load and unload your bikes. An anti-rattle system tightens the rack's shank to your hitch receiver to prevent it from rattling around inside the tube.

1400 SE 2-Piece

The Sport Rider SE consists of a two-bike base unit and a removable two-bike extension unit, allowing you to use the carrier as either a two- or four-bike rack. The 2 pieces make the rack easy to install because you can slide the base into your hitch and secure it before adding the extension.

Locking, Ratcheting Hooks

ratcheting hooks

The Sport Rider SE uses locking frame hooks to secure your bikes. The ratcheting, cushioned hooks easily adjust along the vertical mast and lock securely in place. The release buttons allow each hook to slide up the ratcheting arm for bike removal. The hooks function independently, which means you can position them to carry bikes of different heights.

Adjustable Wheel Hoops

wheel hoops

The wheel hoops accommodate bicycles with wheelbases up to 60" by sliding along the horizontal arms. They are secured in place with easy-to-use hand knobs, and the Velcro-like hook-and-loop straps fasten the wheels to the hoops.

Fat Bike Wheel Cradles

If you want to carry a fat bike on the Sport Rider SE, you can replace the rack's wheel hoops with fat bike hoops (sold separately).

Folding, Tilting Design

tilting

The rack tilts, with or without bikes loaded, for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. Simply remove the pivot pin, pull the bottom quick-release spring pin, and lower the rack.

folding

The rack also folds up against the back of your vehicle when it's not in use. To raise the rack, just pull the upper quick-release spring pin and lift.

Tool-Free Installation with Anti-Rattle System

The rack installs in your hitch without the need for tools. Simply slide the shank into your receiver until the welded stop plate contacts the hitch. The stop plate saves you from getting on your hands and knees to align the pin holes while inserting the hitch pin. Once the pin is in place, attach the lock pod. Lastly, use the integrated anti-wobble handle on the front of the shank to tighten the rack inside your hitch receiver and prevent it from rattling.

Complete Security for Bikes and Rack

The lock cores in the frame hooks hold the bike down on the rack and prevent them from moving. Also, the lock pod attaches to the hitch pin to secure the rack to your vehicle. These locks are conveniently keyed alike. For extra protection, the 8' long security cable wraps through the bike frames, connects to the hitch pin, and is secured to the pin by the hitch lock. The extension cable can be added to the 8' cable to help secure 4 bikes to the rack.

Add-On Adapters

Sport Rider SE Cargo Carrier

If you want to carry both 2 bikes and extra gear, an add-on cargo basket (sold separately) is available.

 Hollywood Racks Wheel Hoop Adapters

If you want to use the rack to transport a kid's bike with 16" or 18" wheels, wheel hoop adapters (sold separately) are available.

If you want to transport one recumbent delta trike or one recumbent tadpole-style trike with the Sport Rider SE, you can use the HRTRK-ADP adapter (sold separately). Or if you want to transport one standard bike and either one recumbent delta trike, one recumbent tadpole-style trike, or one adult trike, then you can use the HRTRK-ADP-2 adapter (sold separately).

Note: The trike adapters can only be used with the Sport Rider SE's two-bike base unit.

This bicycle rack seems very well built. It was easier to assemble compared to a different one we had, and sits very securely in the hitch when tightened down. We love that all the locking mechanisms are keyed the same.

After a year of use, we are very happy with this rack. The folding and tilting functions are wonderful. We haul it on our motorhome, with heavy e-bikes, and it is stout enough for all those stresses. Also, even though it is not advertised as such, the removable two-bike extension unit can be used as a stand-alone rack on a second vehicle!

Lets be honest, there are better looking racks. But I work at etrailer.com and can use pretty much any bike rack in the world. When it came time to go on an adventure race I chose this rack to get my teams bikes there. When we got home one of my team mates bought one because he was so impressed. When it came time to go on a 12 hour road trip with my family I chose the Hollywood. It is a star. Not a Marilyn Monroe, more of a Sylvester Stallone. The thing is solid and it works really well. It is heavy, but any 4 bike rack is going to be on the heavy side. The option to remove the 2 bike extension is nice because it makes the rack easier to handle when you only need 2 bikes. The antirattle knob snugs the rack up in the hitch super tight. Having the cable lock and hitch lock included and keyed the same makes it easy to lock the bikes up when you stop for dinner. The folding feature uses pins and clips instead of the switches found on some other racks. The pins and holes were a bit tough to get aligned at first. I had to ask my wife to lift up on the end of the rack just a hair to get the pin started. She got chain grease on her and I quickly learned that asking for her help was not a good solution to my pin alignment problem. So I grabbed my drill and a bit that was sized the same as the pin hole and cleaned out the holes. About one minute later the pin was sliding in and out perfectly and my wife will never get greasy again. In a nutshell this rack is not the lightest, not the easiest and not the prettiest, but I love it. It is easy enough to use that it is not a hassle, it locks to keep the bikes safe, is a great price for the features and it is solid, very solid. You can see in the pictures that I have used this rack extensively and it still is working great.

Hi, my question is whether you have any frame damage on your biks after your long trips. Vs. going with the t2 or hold up style.

Kevin B.

5/18/2015

Nate, I have used the rack on a few long trips, to Colorado, Wisconsin and to our adventure race. So far there has not been any frame damage. The hook that comes down on the frame has a pretty thick pad. One of the wheel clamp racks would prevent the possibility of frame damage, but I think it will be a long time before the pad on the Hollywood wears out and it is an issue.

Are there any issues with putting carbon fiber frames on this rack?

by:

Great bike rack, significantly cheaper than other tray-style mounts. This rack does carry a kids 16" bike (must buy the adapter from e-trailer), which is one of the reasons why we went with the Hollywood Rack. For the adult bike, we used a foam noodle on the top post to prevent damage to the gear cables. There was some paint damage to the rack that I am assuming occurred during shipping that I'll need to touch up with a can of spray-paint, but other than that, I am pleased with the rack!

Such a fabulous bike rack!! The rack is simple to mount onto the van’s hitch. It’s easy to add or take off the outer rack either before or after putting it on the hitch. The two part design is a great feature for taking a bike to the shop for repair, for when it’s just the two of us, or we can quickly add the second half for two more bikes. It folds up against the back of the van easily and securely. When needed it holds four adult bikes without any problems. Bikes are SO enjoyable to load onto this rack - way better than racks that support the bike by the frame. I have a Y frame bike so it was always challenging to load it onto a traditional rack. The tire supports move to accommodate any size bike. Bikes that have the lower frame get mounted closer to the vehicle for each section of the rack. The rack is stable when driving, even when fully loaded. The locking feature is nice, especially for when we’re away from home and the bikes stay on the rack overnight. Be careful when lifting as the rack itself is heavy.

Id buy it again in a heartbeat! Were about to take our third trip to the beach a 900 mile round trip with four bikes using this rack. Weve owned it for at least two years and it has stayed in great working order. The tire adjustments are still easy to use as are the locking mechanisms. We use it throughout the summers for day trips and its so simple to use our kids can get the bikes loaded.

I've been using a Yakima RidgeBack 4-Bike for many years however I needed to find a bike rack that would transport my wife's new Trek Verve +2 Lowstep E-Bike. Since it is a Step-through and weighs 52 lbs. with the battery, I was uncomfortable hanging the bike off the RidgeBack. I typically only transport 2 bikes however occasionally need to pack up 3 or 4 bikes. After much research, I decided on the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE4. I loved the fact that I could take off the extension and make it a two back rack and appreciated the price. I was however concerned the E-Bike might be too heavy as the specifications note a 50 lb. per bike limit so I reached out directly to Hollywood Bikes. I asked if they thought it'd be alright to place the E-Bike closest to the vehicle with the battery removed. I heard back from them within 24 hours and they agreed, with the battery removed it would be fine. I ordered the SE4 on Monday morning and it arrived Thursday. It was well packaged and easy to assemble using the instructions. I had absolutely no issues and it went together perfectly. The rack is of very good quality and sturdy even when loaded up. I really like that the bikes can be locked down and everything, including the supplied cable is keyed alike. I was able set it up for only 3 bikes as that is all we're taking to Florida next week. I'll follow up after our trip.

A year later and my Sport Rider SE4 is still working great! Use mainly for two bikes but have hauled four several times.

Great prices and loads of information on the website to assist in making a decision on what bike rack to buy for my needs. The rack arrived quickly after ordering.

My Hollywood Rack has worked out even better than expected. I am unsure if this is true for other SUVs, but on my BMW X3, the rear hatch opens with the Hollywood rack in the up position while not carrying bikes. This is a huge bonus as I was not expecting this feature and have left my bike rack on the car full time over this spring and summer knowing I could easily get access to the back of my SUV. I am in an apartment building where several people have car bike racks that require them to lower the rack every time they want to open the rear hatch in their vehicles. One of the main reasons I went with the Hollywood Rack is two of my bikes have fenders and a majority of racks do not work with bikes with fenders as they clamp onto the tires. The no-rattle system is excellent and the bike rack does not tilt right or left in the hitch mount like some of the super expensive racks I see in the apartment garage. The overall build of the rack is sturdy. I am very pleased with my Hollywood Rack and the purchases I have made through etrailer.

I was looking for a 4 bike hitch mounted rack of this style. My main goal was to have it fit my 05 Jeep Wrangler with 31 x 10.5 tires. I wanted to make sure the rack would rest in the folded up positon when not in use. I also wanted the flexibility to have only a 2 bike mount for when I ride solo.

I emailed etrailer and they were quick with a response and included a video as well. I placed the order a week ago Saturday, and my rack was delivered ahead of schedule. I was blown away by the service I received from etrailer, and am very pleased with the rack. I found it easy to install and it totally does what I need it to do.

Thank you etrailer. Keep up the great job.

Scott

I love it. It is a breeze to put it on and take it off. When it is on, I feel secure knowing that everything is locked to my vehicle. The rack itself when not in use tilts up and fits perfectly against the spare tire on my Jeep.

I've only just received my HR1400 Hollywood rack, assembled it, installed in on my car, and loaded it with 4 of our bikes, but I'm very impressed so far. It's exactly what I was hoping for. It is heavy, but it's extremely sturdy. I found it very easy to mount on my car and remove when I do so taking advantage of the fact it breaks into 2 pieces (which it does very easily). I'm looking forward to using it on our next outing.

By the way, etrailer.com rocks! You had the best price on this rack and it was sitting on my doorstep 2 days after ordering (ordered Wed afternoon and delivered Friday).

In addition, I had no issues with the packaging or the contents being damaged as a few others have mentioned in reviews.

Ive owned this rack for a year now and I still love it. I would definitely buy it again if I ever had the need. Clearances are fine on my vehicle. I have no issue with the Velcro-like straps. The only issue I have is that I cant open the back of my car when bikes are loaded. But honestly, I dont find that to be a huge deal.

by:

This rack has all the bells and whistles of a much more expensive rack at a significantly better price. My 14 year old son put it together easily from the pictures (I had a harder time following the instructions) but between the two of us it didn’t take more than 30 minutes. It is super solid, holds the bikes very securely, and I love the built in locks for each bike, which you pay a lot more for with other brands. It’s just really solid and well designed. The photo shows the 2 rack configuration on my 2018 Honda Pilot. The rear door is able to open without having to put the rack down. My son and I are exploring the great mountain biking around Fort Collins and it’s great to have the bikes on in a minute and go. Thanks Noah for making this suggestion!

Just received my Hollywood Rack last week and put it together and used it this weekend. The rack seems solid, easy to load bikes and the rack seems to secure the bikes well to the rack. I have not driven far with 4 bikes yet but with 2 bikes I've had no issues at all. Looking forward to years of service with the rack.

The rack arrived on time and in good shape from etrailer.com, no problems at all.

This gets carried on a 2010 Touareg (gas).

I've
never owned a bike rack. This one is awesome. It holds 2 kids bikes and 2 adult bikes no sweat. Though, one of the kids bikes is a bit small and we have to strap it down extra to make sure it won't go anywhere, and make sure it's loaded in between other bikes to sandwich it in place. It won't be a problem when the little guy gets the next size up.

This carrier is HEAVY. I'm no slouch, and I still will install it in 2 pieces rather than carrying the mondo unit assembled out to the car.

Lowering and raising is easy, but may require 2 people depending on if you have bikes loaded or not, or how strong you are.

Flipping up for empty carry on the back of the vehicle is easy.

Everything feels well made and no-nonsense.

The ratchet action of the vertical pieces is great, and sometimes too great.. so don't over-do it or you might struggle to free your bike from its clutches.

No noises while driving, seems very rigid/solid overall in the Curt hitch we picked up here on etrailer.com

Overall, as a first time bike rack owner, I love it.

by:

This rack is incredibly solid/strong and holds bikes securely. Easy to modify if using different bike sizes. Like the modular feature of using only part of the rack for two bikes but quickly can connect the back section to add 2 more bikes. It’s very intuitive. Have never seen any other Hollywood racks over the year and it far exceeds my expectations.
I did call the company with a suggestion to create a hole or bracket to keep the hitch pin when it’s not on vehicle so it wouldn’t get lost. Don’t hesitate to buy one.

by:

Great communication from seller. Fast shipping, particularly since it's free. Item arrived and was in good shape. Heavy and awkward to carry so be careful how far you have to lift it. Don't ask your wife to pick it up. Not very difficult to put together, although slowed down by cumbersome instructions with poor pictures and it took time to identify each part as the correct one. Good quality unit, although some packing styrofoam was glued to bars leaving several stretches of white, sticky goo on the upwards facing bars where the tire holders slide. Makes adjusting the tire holders more difficult. Overall a good product and handles the 4 bikes well. Will see over time how it holds up to consistent use.

I bought a truck and went to a tailgate pad. I sold the rack. It worked well. Thanks

by:

Just received my rack and assembled it. I had a small issue with the bolt of the second rack but got it through eventually with a little hammering. Loaded all four bikes on the rack today and took it for a test drive. Very strong and steady. It looks really nice and so far I like it.

Rack is still solid and I like it very much. No issues at at all.

by:

The quality of the trailer hitch and assembly is excellent. Very happy with the quality and the purchase price. Given I was installing on a 2004 Honda Odyssey in 2015, I did have difficulty with the pre-drilled holes and threads on the frame of the vehicle. I made several attempted to clean the threads but was unsuccessful. I eventually took the hitch assembly to a local installer and they put it on for $[...]. The instructions provided for self installation were very clear and straight forward. I use my hitch assembly to haul bikes around to various triathlons. I purchased the bike carrier separately and it slides right into the hitch opening and locks on.

by:

I just used this on my 2012 Honda Pilot for a road trip over 700 miles. I hauled my 29er along with my kids bikes (a 20" & a 24"). It works great for hauling different sizes of bikes together. It was rock solid and the bikes were absolutely stable and secure. It takes a few minutes to figure out the best configuration for your specific bikes when you first set it up but once you have a system its super quick and easy. This rack is heavy and solid and should last forever (except for maybe the velcro straps which do seem sufficient for now and would be easy to replace if needed). Even though it is heavy I am still able to carry it around and install/remove it by myself (5'4-130 lb woman). I love that the locks were included making this a great value. I also love that its two separate parts so I can use it as a 2 bike carrier or a 4 bike carrier when needed. Many times I am only hauling one bike and dont need a ginormous 4 bike carrier. Etrailers shipping was super fast!! The only thing I can criticize is the terrible instructions but if you look at the pictures on the box you can figure it out fairly quickly, it really wasnt difficult. Overall, I am very, very happy with this bike rack!

by:

eTrailer is an excellent company to do business with.

by:

So far I am very impressed with the quality of this rack. The box arrived undamaged and the rack was in perfect condition. The finish is very nice and robust powder coat. Assembly was a breeze with the included instructions. As other have mentioned it is very strong and a bit heavy.. I am 6'2 200lbs and have no trouble handling it at all by myself as long as I do it in 2 pieces. The rack is very easy to separate into 2 pieces. I haven't used it yet buy I have no doubt it will work splendidly. I hung it using a hitch mount bracket that I ordered from Amazon. I was able to hang it underneath some 12 inch shelves and all I had to do was reverse the 2 bike rear section to allow the rack to clear the shelves. Fits like a glove.

by:

Excellent 4 bike platform rack in a 2+2 configuration

Very sturdy rack. Assembly instructions could have been better though installation was straightforward. Encountered a small issue with the placement of 4 bikes (17" MTB, 15" WMN MTB, 13" MTB and 24" dialed kids) because of the geometry of the bike's top tubes but after figuring out optimal placement and sizing the width of the wheel holders correctly, bikes were generally easy to get in and out.

Installed on back of '17 Highlander XLE attached to an etrailer Hitch Receiver (Item # e98844). Folds up nicely when not in use. Not getting access to truck might be an issue for some buyers but not a concern for me. Comes down to the price/feature/quality conundrum and there really isn't too many in this price range that offers a 2+2 configuration and highly rated by buyers.

Great delivery service from etrailer.

I was a Thule rack owner at one time, but needed to upgrade to a tray rack that could hold 4 bikes. I was skeptical about anything other than a Thule. Even though the Thule was much pricier, I wanted to stick with what I was comfortable with. I was convinced after discussing different options with a customer rep that this rack would be just as good and perform to my expectations...

This rack has exceeded my expectations (more to follow). My Thule rack was very mobile while driving even when I would tighten the receiver pin to the rack. It would sway every time I would hit a bump, turn a corner or accelerate/brake hard. The other downfall was my former Thule would not tilt down to allow access to my cargo area of either one of our SUVs. It was also a bit heavier as well.
However...this Hollywood rack has been performing better than I expected. I would definitely advise anyone who is looking for a quality bike rack that can convert from 2 to 4 bikes to seriously consider this rack. Here are the following reasons:

1: This rack barely moves when you tighten it to the receiver. It is solid. It only moves slightly, and even then I have to really watch the rack in order to catch it moving.

2: The receiver pin, vertical clamps, and bike cable are all keyed alike (4 keys)
3: Rack is heavy duty but light enough for a small female to handle and install on a vehicle.

4: Assembly is easy enough for a grade school child to perform. Took me all of 30 minutes including finding parts my daughter was "stealing".

5: The product was shipped in the product box which was inside of another heavy duty cardboard box.

6: The tilting rack clears enough room for my cargo door on my VW Touareg.

7: The bikes are held on very securely and do NOT move once locked into position.

etrailer has excellent customer service.

I researched bike racks that can carry four bikes for a long time before settling on this rack. I was very nervous about this one given the price is about $400-$500 less than other comparable racks. However, I am very pleased with this after our first weekend using it to haul all four of our family's bikes.

Assembly was relatively straightforward. Upon opening, I was very pleased with how "solid" all the parts are. I would have preferred some exploded drawings or some with a wider perspective of the rack as sometimes it took a few minutes staring at the drawings to understand the next step. I was able to put the entire rack together in about an hour or so. I used my own ratchet set and wrenches rather than the wrench included. You'll have a much easier time if you use quality tools rather that the basic wrench included. We went ahead and put all the bikes on the rack prior to our first trip so that we could take the time to adjust where all the tire supports should go. This process took a bit of time (probably 30 minutes or so for four bikes).

Our first trip with the bikes was great. Since we took the time to adjust all the tire supports after initial assembly, it took no time at all to get all the bikes on the rack. We drove about 30 miles for our first outing with the rack. The bikes rode very well with little movement on city streets and on the highway. We had no issues with the bikes rubbing each other or getting scratched due to movement as we have had with other racks that "hang" the bikes rather than set them in a tire support. We were hauling one men's bike, two women's bikes adult bikes and one kid bike with 20" wheels in the photos I have included in the review.

We have a 2018 GMC Yukon XL. We were able to completely open the window on the back hatch without tilting the rack downward. We did have to adjust the handlebars on the bike closest to the car to get full clearance. With the rack tilted down, we are able to get the back hatch open almost 75% of the way open. The only issue with tilting the rack fully loaded is it is very heavy, so you'll need two people (one to pull the pin and one to lift the rack). Removal of the rack was easy. It's heavy, but I was able to lift it without separating the rack into two pieces without any problem. You could separate the two and lift each separately to lighten the load.

I am very pleased with this purchase and cannot believe the quality for the price!

by:

I am very pleased with this rack. As you see in the picture I only assembled the 2 bike option. We bought the 4 bike option to be able to carry the grandkid's bikes when needed. This rack easily accomodated my Surly Big Dummy (60" wheelbase) and my wife's Xtracycle RFA electric bike. The only drawback is that it is a little bit clumsy to get the back bicycle onto the rack. Hopefully I will get the hang of it. The Rack is extremely stable. The hitch tightner works fabulous!

by:

This bike rack came quickly (thanks etrailer!) and was easy to put together. Just purchased an e-bike and needed a rack that would hold one. We put both my road bike and the e-bike on the rack and both fit perfectly on my 2019 Subaru Outback. I like that everything it adjustable for any bike.

The rack is heavy and I was concerned about putting it on the car and taking it off myself but I managed. I like that you can tilt the rack to make it easier to get the bike on. We have a driveway with an incline so we were concerned about how low the rack was but we were able to go down and come back up with and without bikes on. (Just went super slow)

I had never bought a Hollywood rack before so I was a bit nervous but now I’m a huge fan!

by:

Pure awesomeness! But I’ll remind you now, lest you forget in your enthusiasm: the pin’s not stuck, you secured it down with that crank as one of the first steps. No hammer needed. Just sayin). I can’t wait for the next trip. No more fighting forever to get the handlebars untangled while I try to fit all the bikes on. Which I contend is IMPOSSIBLE on those stupid hanging rack types. No more wheels flopping in the breeze potentially scratching my car. No more removing the wheels because the bike shop sold me a carrier that was too low for my minivan. No more bikes bouncing up and down while I drive. No more scraping the exit curbs. AND I still have a decent view out of the back up camera/screen!!
I was able to open the hatch with the bikes tilted. You have to hold the bike closest back a little. I let it do it by itself and the auto open forced it way through instead of stopping and it did scratch the car. But closing it, I stayed at the handle bars and gently pushed and it cleared fine.
And it locks to the car. No more fear my rack will get stolen. And comes with another lock for the bikes.
Sure a bottle opener would be a cool feature. I’ll rubberbad one on.
It’s SO worth the money! Stop comparing and put it in the cart.
By the way, the pics only show it set up with two racks. I love that I can customize it to the number of us going out for the day.

  • Bike Rack for 4 Bikes that Can be Used on the Back of an RV, Motorhome, Trailer
There is more vibration, jarring, and movement in general at the back of an RV or trailer due to suspension limitations and the distance from the axle to the rear of the vehicle or trailer. Not all bike racks, the Sport Rider SE # HR1400Z included, are built to withstand this additional stress and will fail. For a 4-bike hitch mounted rack that can be used on the back of an RV or trailer we have the following options: Swagman Trailhead # S63381 Yakima LongHaul # Y02476 Swagman XP # S64940 Swagman...

  • Can the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 4 Bike Platform Rack Be Used with a Hitch Extender
The use of a hitch extender will most likely reduce the tongue weight capacity of your setup. This has little to do with the bike rack. The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 4 Bike Platform Rack part # HR1400Z weighs about 100 lbs so the weight of this and all bikes must be under the tongue weight capacity of hitch extender. The weight capacity of the hitch extender should be clearly marked. In other words, the question should be can the hitch extender hold the weight of the bike racks....

  • Platform Bike Rack for 2005 Honda Element that Allows Tailgate to Lower Fully
It's pretty difficult to say sight unseen if the bike rack would interfere with opening the tailgate fully once it's installed. If you look at the photo I've edited for you, you can see the height of the angled portion of the shank, as well as the distance between the hitch pin hole in the shank and the closest obstruction. If you measure 8-1/2 inches rearward from the hitch pin hole, then 7 inches up, you'll be able to see where the closest part of the rack would sit in relation to the...

  • How Wide are Wheel Hoops of Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE
The wheel hoops of the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HR1400Z can accommodate tires up to 3 inches wide. The rack is compatible with bikes with wheelbases up to 60 inches, weighing up to 45 lbs apiece. If you find yourself only needing to carry two bikes, the two bike extension is easily removable. A cable lock and a hitch lock are included. I've linked you to a product demonstration video featuring the Sport Rider SE.

  • Recommended 4 Bike Bike Rack That Can Break Down Into a 2 Bike Bike Rack
No, it does not. The Saris SuperClamp EX Bike Rack for 4 Bikes item # SA4026F is not designed to be broken down to a carry only two bikes. You would have to completely disassemble the last two carriers. The closest alternative with that high of a weight capacity for a 4 bike rack that can be broken down to a 2 bike rack easily is the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 4 Bikes item # TH69TX. It does cost a little more and weighs 96 lbs over the SuperClamp item # SA4026F 63 lbs so it might...

  • Low Cost Bike Rack options for Easy Loading of Bikes
The only hitch mounted bike rack with a ramp that we have is the Thule EasyFold XT 2 Bike Platform Rack # TH903202. What I recommend for you is our Swagman XC 2 Bike Rack # S64650 if you are only looking to transport up to 2 bikes. If you are needing to transport more than 2 bikes, I recommend purchasing our Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Platform-Style 2 Bike and 4 Bike Rack # HR1400Z. These bike racks are easily adjustable and instead of having to lift a bike and hang it from the frame,...

  • Hitch-Mount Platform-Style Bike Rack Recommendation for 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
First you will want to check the size and tongue weight capacity of the hitch on your Wrangler Unlimited since it could be equipped with either a 1-1/4-inch Class II hitch or a 2-inch Class III hitch. There will be a sticker on the hitch indicating its tongue weight rating (the downward force on the hitch) and this rating must be enough for the weight of the bike carrier you select plus the weight of all of your loaded bikes. The linked article will help explain hitch capacity. Clearance...

  • Recommended Hitch and 4-Bike Rack for a 2010 Hyundai Tucson
The Curt Class III Hitch, part # C13120, is a great hitch for your 2010 Hyundai Tucson. With a tongue weight capacity of 525 pounds, it can definitely handle a 4-bike rack and the bikes. The only thing you will need to check is your owner's manual to ensure the Tucson itself can handle that much weight. I've linked to a video installation of this hitch for your reference. As for choosing between the Curt and Hollywood Racks platform racks, both are great choices. They are of very similar...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for 2009 Nissan Murano
For your 2009 Nissan Murano, I recommend the etrailer Class III Receiver Hitch # e65AR. This Class III hitch is custom-fit for your vehicle and has a 400 pound tongue weight and 4,000 pound towing weight capacity. I also recommend checking the capacities of your Murano as listed in the owner's manual, as this will likely be the limiting factor. The 2 inch receiver opening will give you a large number of hitch-mounted accessories like bike racks to choose from. I have attached the installation...

  • How To Use Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 4 on a 2005 Honda Element
In order to use the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 4 Bike Platform Rack part # HR1400Z on a 2005 Honda Element you'd need to use a trailer hitch with 2" receiver tube opening, the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e78KR is an easy to install option. The reason you'd need to install the larger trailer hitch has to do with both weight and leverage. For starters, the maximum number of bikes that can be installed on a class one rated hitch is two. Furthermore, the adapters you mentioned...

  • Availability of 4-Bike Hanging-Style Bike Rack that can be Converted to 2-Bike Design
It sounds like you are looking for a hanging-style bike rack that can be extended from a 2-bike model to a 4-bike model, and vise versa. The best option for a hanging-style rack will be to simply go with a 4-bike model, such as the excellent Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR, then only use the inner most cradles when transporting just 2 bikes. There is not a hanging-style rack currently available that can be physically converted from a 4-bike design to a 2-bike. The Thule Hitching Post...

The Yakima StickUp, # Y02420, is stuck being a 2-bike rack. There is no add-on that will allow you to carry 4 bikes. Since you need to carry 4 bikes you have some options. You can go with a full time 4-bike rack or you can go with a 2-bike rack that does have an add-on feature that will allow you to carry 2 bikes when needed. I will give you the best options for each of these racks based on similar functionality and other characteristics displayed by the StickUp. For a strictly 4-bike...

  • Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for 2009 Toyota RAV4
The bike rack that I recommend for your 2009 Toyota RAV4 is the Swagman XTC-2 2-Bike Platform Rack # S64670. The Swagman XTC-2 is a platform-style 2 bike rack. Bikes are secured to the rack at three attachment points, the wheels and the frame. The wheel hoops are adjustable to accommodate various size bikes, including children's bikes. This bike rack has a weight capacity of up to 35 pounds per bike and fits both 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch trailer hitch receivers. The Swagman XTC-2 # S64670...

  • Inexpensive 4 Bike Rack for Fat Tire Bikes
I recommend taking a look at either the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE part # HR1400Z or the Curt 4 Bike Platform Rack part # C18087 as they will be the two most cost effective options we have for you to carry four bikes on a platform style bike rack with one or all having tires up to 3" wide. I have attached review videos of both options for you.

  • Hitch-Mounted Bike Rack For Step-Through Bike That Allows Trunk Access On 2016 Honda Pilot
For your 2016 Honda Pilot, I recommend going with the Saris Freedom 4 Bike Platform Rack # SA4414B. This would tilt back enough to access your trunk and would not require any adapter bars for step-through bikes or alternative frames. The cradles allow up to 3" wide tires, but the Fat Tire Adapter Kit # SA4419 increases the maximum tire width to 5" if that is a concern to you. The Yakima # Y02465 would work great and will be able to give you full access to the trunk, but would likely...

The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider # HR1400Z will accept a step-through bike frame as long as the top frame tube above the pedals is no less than 18 inches from the ground to the top of the tube. The Swagman XTC-4, # S64665, will fit if the measurement is no less than 12 inches. The Saris Freedom # SA4414B would work since the cradles that hold the frame can rotate and grip the step-through frame at an angle. All 3 of these racks will also accommodate bikes with fenders. I have linked some...

  • Recommendation for Receiver Hitch and Bike Rack for 2011 Toyota Sienna
I recommend the Curt Class III Receiver Hitch, # C13105, for your 2011 Toyota Sienna. This hitch has a 2 inch opening which gives you the added benefit of having more options when it comes to hitch mounted accessories. The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE, # HR1400Z, is a popular 4 bike platform style bike rack with our 2011 Toyota Sienna owners. The rack has a shank rise of 7 inches for added ground clearance and works with bikes that have a wheelbase up to 60 inches and a tire width up...

  • Difference Between Hidden Hitch # 87719 and Curt # 13389 Class III Hitch on 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan
The differences between the Hidden Hitch Class III Hitch, # 87719, and the Curt Class III Hitch, # 13389, are very minimal. The Draw-Tite Hitch, # 75305, is going to sit approximately 11-3/4 inches from the top of the receiver to the ground. The Curt Hitch, # 13389, is going to sit approximately 12-1/4 inches from the top of the receiver to the ground. The benefit to this hitch is that it installs in about half of the time as the other. If you are in need of a 4 bike rack, I recommend...

The Curt hitch part # C13204 that you referenced has been confirmed as a fit for your 2014 Nissan Rogue Select. When we install this hitch on a very similar 2014 Nissan Rogue Select like yours we found that the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most portion of the bumper was 4-1/2 inches. • How Does Tongue Weight Work With 4 Bikes on a Class III Hitch?
It sounds like you have a total load of 325 lbs which is within the hitch capacity of a hitch like # e98855 on your 2020 Honda Odyssey. Tongue weight is the relevant capacity when it comes to bike racks because they put a vertical load on the hitch. When you add things further and further away from your hitch, then leverage becomes a factor. In your case, with a class 3 hitch like # e98855 and a bike rack like # HR1400Z, you're fine. A good bike rack is designed to not just support...

  • Can Hollywood Racks Bike Rack HR1400Z Fit in Curt Hitch for 2019 Audi Q5
The etrailer hitch part # e94CR is going to work great with the Hollywood Rack bike rack # HR1400Z that you have currently. This hitch has plenty of clearance to fit the rack and since it doesn't have a back on it there wouldn't be any reason any portion of the rack wouldn't fit properly.

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for 2018 Ford Explorer that Gives Complete Access to Rear Cargo Area
That would depend on a few things like the handlebar length of the inner most loaded bike on the Hollywood Racks # HR1400Z as well as the height of the bike and the hitch you have installed. There is a rack I can guarantee will give you full access to rear cargo area of your vehicle with bikes loaded with the Thule Apex Swing # TH9027XT which swings out and away from the rear of the vehicle to give complete access without any guesswork. For this reason, it's not going to be able to be used this to carry bikes your downhill electric mountain bikes that are 48-lbs.
